The law firm of Markus Sajogo (MS&A) was established in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia in 1967. MS&A is a full-service law firm that focuses in corporate and commercial matters such as mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate transactions, capital market, intellectual property rights, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (“ADR”) cases both domestic and international arbitration.

Having the office in Surabaya, MS&A has a unique geographical presence for clients entering into ventures or disputes in Indonesia. Being the second largest city in Indonesia and the capital of East Java, Surabaya is known as the hub for service providers to support the nation’s development in the eastern region. It is the focus of main developments by the Indonesian central government. For more than 50 years in the legal world, MS&A has had a positive reputation and track record not only for its success in handling legal matters throughout many regions in Indonesia, but also in the Asia-Pacific, representing clients from major national and international corporations.

Understanding significant updates in Intellectual Property (IP) law and the increasing concern in IP disputes, the partners of MS&A established Sajogo Marks in 2011 to become the centre of the firm’s IP service management, either in dispute settlements or worldwide IP registration for its domestic and international clients.

For the focus in ADR, MS&A has been known to promote settlement of disputes through mediation and arbitration rather than settlement through ordinary court proceedings. In line with the founder’s legacy to promote win-win solution as a result in a dispute settlement. The firm’s cases now primarily involve a broad range of international and domestic dispute settlement. We believe in the powers that lawyers have over disputed matters and that client’s business interest should be the priority aim, and thus settlements, should be encouraged by the extension of good faith.

In 2015, MS&A entered into a strategic alliance with another law firm in Indonesia, Lubis Ganie Surowidjojo (“LGS”), a prominent and reputable full-service law firm in Indonesia, recognized in international arbitration, commercial litigation, and capital market law. With regards to Capital Market matters, MS&A and LGS provide integrated legal services to advice, prepare and planning of client’s public expose in the stock exchange. Arbitration Practice:

The focus of B&A’s dispute resolution practice is to achieve our clients’ commercial objectives in accordance with the law. When our clients face difficult problems, we are committed to exploring and finding tailored and cost-effective legal solutions and outcomes that work for them.

At B&A, our job is not only to provide legal options, but also to recommend a specific course of action. We believe all disputes are unique and that our clients deserve specialized and practical advice on how to achieve their objectives.

In a conflict situation, we help our clients to select the best strategy to manage and resolve the matter, whether through litigation or alternative means such as mediation and arbitration.

Without compromising our clients’ interests, we always explore “win-win” scenarios that provide opportunities to resolve their differences with disputing parties and restore and continue commercial relationships.

Our services cover litigation through the Courts as well as resolving disputes through alternative dispute resolution methods (conciliation, mediation and arbitration). Our dispute resolution resources include an internationally accredited mediator and arbitrator amongst our team as well as a fully equipped mediation and arbitration room within our Jakarta office.

Firm Overview:

B&A is a young and dynamic full-service, independent Indonesian law firm.

Established in 2007, we have quickly forged a reputation as one of the leading newer legal practices in Indonesia. This is evidenced by high client satisfaction which has driven the rapid growth of the firm, as well as recognition from legal directories and publications such as Asialaw Profiles, IFLR 1000 and The Legal 500.

We offer legal services that are comparable to the top law firms in Indonesia. But at the same time, our independence means a relatively lower cost base and the ability to offer flexible and competitive fees. We also strive to work smarter so that the value of our results exceeds the cost of our services.

We focus on delivering effective solutions and outcomes that are tailored for our clients. We are client service oriented and open to new and innovative approaches to legal practice. At the same time, we are known for adhering to the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct.

We are well known for the efficiency of our services. But clients can rest assured that the speed with which we work will not compromise the quality of our services.

While independent, we have strategic international affiliations with carefully selected law firms to draw on. We are a member of TAGLaw®, a worldwide alliance of over 145 independent law firms with more than 9,000 lawyers in over 85 countries. This gives B&A and our clients access to high quality, local legal expertise across the world. Currently, our Jakarta office is supplemented by presence in Bali, Batam, Guangzhou, and Sydney. In addition to legal services, we provide related specialized services such as customs, legal compliance review, asset and anti-counterfeiting investigations, and notary services. Our team includes an internationally-accredited arbitrator and we offer a fully equipped mediation and arbitration room within our Jakarta office.

We are committed to investing in the ongoing personal and professional development of our team of lawyers and support staff. We understand that this is also an investment in our clients and our future.
