Raúl Fratantoni

He graduated as a lawyer (JD equivalent) from the Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Políticas of the Universidad Católica Argentina in May 1998.  In May 2001, he obtained a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Between June 2001 and March 2007, he worked as an associate for the law firm of Fox Horan & Camerini LLP, in New York, being admitted to practice law in the State of New York.

He has published numerous articles in Argentine and foreign law reviews. Among his publications, there are worth mentioning the following: “Enforcement of Foreign Tax Laws in the United States”, in January 2006 at La Ley (Argentine law journal, LexisNexis), “Financial Industry: New Proposals to Combat Money Laundering”, in January 2003, and “The Argentine Financial System in Crisis”, in May 2002, both published in Diritto Bancario (Italian Law Review). He also participated in the drafting of the paper “Legal Analysis of the Argentine Default and its Consequences Abroad”, published by the Argentine Academy of Economics in May 2003.

Since he joined Allende & Brea, he is part of our Corporate and M&A practice, and has advised our clients in merger and acquisitions, foreign investments, corporate law, contracts, and estate and tax planning.

He is a member of the Bar of the City of Buenos Aires, the New York State Bar, and the New York City Bar.

He became a partner of the firm in January 2010.

He has been cited as a leading practitioner in Corporate and Mergers & Acquisitions law by, among others, The Legal 500 Latin America and Latin Lawyer 250.

Zmarak Zhouand

Our firm was formed in January 2011 and provides legal and regulatory advice and strategic government advisory services for the Afghan market at a standard that one would expect from a firm in more established jurisdictions. The firm’s exclusive focus is on providing advice and services on Afghan related matters and projects.

We were the first Afghan law firm in the post-Taliban era to be engaged by the Government of Afghanistan to draft legislation and provide advice and services on significant transactions. Mr. Samir Satchu – Partner – Prior to forming SZ, Mr. Satchu was General Counsel & Head of Government Affairs at Roshan where he worked between September 2003 and December 2010. Mr. Satchu headed Roshan’s legal and government affairs team from December 2006 to December 2010 reporting directly to the Company’s Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Satchu is a graduate of Cambridge University (Trinity College – BA Hons 1994) and Harvard Law School (Juris Doctor 1998) and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1999.

Mr. Zmarak Zhouand – Partner –Mr. Zhouand was born in Kabul and emigrated to Australia in 1982. He was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New South Wales, Australia, in 2001. Between 2001 and 2008, Mr. Zhouand worked with Henry Davis York and Gadens Lawyers, both leading Australian corporate law firms, where he represented “blue-chip” national and international clients across the corporate, commercial, banking and finance and litigation practice areas. Mr. Zhouand returned to Afghanistan in 2008 to work as Senior Legal Counsel with Roshan, where, until early 2011, he led Roshan’s legal and government affairs team with Mr. Satchu and was also in charge of the legal and regulatory function for Roshan’s wholly owned subsidiary, M-Paisa. Mr. Zhouand has a B.A (SCU) (1998) and a LL.B. (UNE) (2000).

Aleš Eppinger graduated from the Faculty of Law at Palacký University in Olomouc in 2001.

After graduating from the Faculty of Law, Aleš initially worked for JUDr. Jan Veselý PhD. as a trainee distrainer at the Distrainers’ Office in Prague 1, where in addition to ensuring the performance of the routine work of the distrainers’ office, he directly participated in the preparation of legislation in the field of judicial execution.

Since 2002 Aleš has been involved in advocacy. From 2003 to 2008, Aleš worked for the leading international law firm in the Czech Republic – Weinhold Legal, v.o.s., firstly as junior lawyer and later as senior lawyer, specializing in the provision of legal services to German clients. During his time at Weinhold Legal, v.o.s., Aleš attended a series of specialized seminars/workshops (e.g. Corporate M&A II Law School in Warsaw etc.).

Aleš Eppinger is primarily focused in rendering legal services in area of business law, in particular in mergers and acquisitions, furthermore in civil law, property law, insolvency law and judicial and arbitration proceedings.During his professional career, Aleš has been involved in many international transactions, including important cross-border acquisitions by multinationals, the complex restructuring of important holdings and also in international arbitration.
