Miguel is the founding partner of the firm. He graduated in Law and Political Science from the Faculty of Law of the Santa Maria La Antigua Catholic University of Panama, in 1987.

In 1992, he founded the firm with a traditional approach to legal services. However, over the years the firm experienced a number of organizational and strategic changes that resulted in the specialization and expansion of its services.

Miguel specializes in Corporate and Business Law, Labor Law and Real Estate.

He is a member of AMCHAM Panama, the Panama Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture and the National Bar Association.

Cedeño & Mendez was founded in 1992, in the Republic of Panama, with the aim of offering the traditional range of legal services. However, over the years we have experienced a series of changes at the organizational and strategic level, which have resulted in the specialization and expansion of our services.

Currently, we are a full-service law firm, specialized in Intellectual Property, Regulatory Affairs (Sanitary Registration), Corporate and Business Law, Litigation & Arbitration, and Regulatory Law. Likewise, we have solid experience in Competition Law, Immigration Law, Labor Law, Estate Planning and Real Estate.

Lieven Peeters

Lieven Peeters is a renowned expert in the field of real estate and construction. He has a deep knowledge of contracts law and general commercial law.

Lieven advises his clients in all aspects of complex real estate transactions, including: the structuring of real estate projects; real estate M&A; sale-and-leaseback transactions; joint ventures; leasing; split structures. Lieven has advised on various major transactions in the Belgian market involving: large shopping centres and several logistic centres; office buildings; commercial properties; large inner-city (re-)developments; and on other real estate niche products (including senior citizens’ housing and mixed-use projects).

Lieven has been recently appointed Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), the world’s leading professional body for qualifications and standards in land, property, infrastructure and construction.
