Adnan Amkhan Bayno

Adnan, a Chartered Arbitrator, is a highly experienced international lawyer and international arbitration practitioner, both as counsel and arbitrator. He has developed a reputation for his extensive knowledge and experience in the fields of international law, international energy law, the Energy Charter Treaty and Middle Eastern investment and commercial laws. Adnan served as Head of the Legal Affairs Department of the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels from 2000-2004, during which time he was heavily involved in the negotiation of the Transit Protocol and the drafting of Model Agreements on the transportation of energy.

Before and after his time at the Energy Charter Secretariat, Adnan has advised governments, international organizations, multinational corporations and private clients on a wide range of issues relating to international law, energy law, international investment law, international commercial arbitration, Energy Charter Treaty, and Middle Eastern and Islamic laws. Adnan has given expert legal opinions before domestic and international courts and tribunals, including the International Court of Justice, the International Chamber of Commerce and the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.

Most recently, Adnan was a member of an international legal team that advised the Government of Bahrain on the implementation of BICI’s recommendations.

In addition to his practice, Adnan has extensive academic experience: he has taught and supervised postgraduate students in a range of courses including energy security, international law, international economic law, international and European energy law, international investment and commercial arbitration, and the commercial laws of the Middle East.

Loay A.Ghani Qarooni

Senior Partner, Attorney at the Court of Cassation and Legal Advisor

Member of the Chartered Institution of Arbitrators as well as the Bahraini Bar Society where he served as a Board Member for two terms. He joined A.Ghani Qarooni & Associates in the year 1993 at age 21 while he was still a student of Law at the Beirut Arab University from which he graduated in 1996.

Upon completing his training period, his responsibilities expanded as he was then overlooking all lawsuits and matters relating to the Firm’s main clients where he quickly evolved to handle the management of the firm in the year 2002.

Hatim Sharif Zu’bi, Hon. G.B.E.

Hatim Sharif Zu’bi received an LL.B. Hons. Degree from University College, London in 1949 and was called as Barrister-at-Law by Lincoln’s Inn in 1950. He has been at various times Licensed Advocate & Legal Consultant in Jordan, Bahrain, U.A.E., Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia since 1971. From 1950 to 1954 he was Advocate for Ministry of Finance in Jeddah and Dammam, Saudi Arabia and from 1954 to 1955 he was Special Counsel to US Aid Mission, Jordan. In 1955-1965 and then again in 1969 he was Deputy Chairman of Cairo Amman Bank. From 1965 to 1969, he was Minister of National Economy, Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Jordan’s Governor at the World Bank. In 1971 he established his law practice in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain to cover the GCC countries, and from 1973 onwards established law offices in Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Oman.

In addition to being Hon. GBE, he holds several Western and Arab high decorations. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in England and has been a member of the ICC Court of International Arbitration and Editorial Advisory Board of the Construction Law Review. In 1971 he became the Chairman and Founder of Hatim S Zu’bi Law Office which for a while was practising as “Al Mahmood and Zu’bi” and now, following the merger, as Zu’bi & Partners, Attorneys & Legal Consultants, Bahrain (including Hatim S Zu’bi & Partners and Qays H. Zu’bi Law Office in Bahrain). He is married to Judge Hassana Hussami Zu’bi. His interests include horseback riding, tennis, motor-boating, philately, current affairs and political analysis.

Zeenat is the managing partner at Zeenat Al Mansoori & Associates and partner at Qatari law firm Nada Al-Sulaiti & Partners. Admitted to practice law in Bahrain since 1988 and partner since 1990, Zeenat draws on over two decades of experience in legal consultation, litigation and commercial arbitration.

Zeenat represents a wide range of clients including prominent banks, private equity firms, leading multinationals and investors. Zeenat has extensive experience with financial transactions in both Shari’ah-compliant and conventional banking, insurance/reinsurnace and corporate acquisitions in Bahrain. Career

Dareen re-joined the firm in October 2014 (formerly at Qays H. Zu’bi Attorneys and Legal Consultants for 4 years) as a Senior Associate. She is admitted to practice as an Attorney-at-Law in California and has obtained her Advocacy License in Bahrain. She has vast experience in a wide range of corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance transactions, construction, contracts and employment disputes. Her undergraduate background in finance and economics has enabled her to better assist our banking clients and in this respect, she has advised on large-scale capital markets transactions such as IPOs and bond issues in addition to providing banks and investment firms with licensing, structuring, corporate governance and regulatory advice.

Mohamed Hasan

Mohamed had initially joined our Bahrain office as a Legal Assistant in 2011. Mohamed qualified as an Attorney At Law in the State of New York in 2014. He has gained extensive experience advising the Government of Bahrain on a vast array of infrastructure projects in respect of housing, transport, and the oil and gas sectors. More recently, Mohamed has been involved in a wealth of transactions advising private investment houses and high net worth entities based in the Middle East on high profile joint ventures and sophisticated business transactions.
