Dr Nikolaos Lyberis is attorney and Managing Partner of VAYANOS KOSTOPOULOS Law Firm (1900), specializing in Intellectual Property Law in Greece and abroad. Being a litigator, he is admitted before the Supreme Courts for civil and administrative matters. Nikolaos represents prestigious clients in trademark, patent and other IP rights conflicts from all branches of industry and commerce, such as pharma and cosmoceuticals, consumer goods, automobile manufacturing, food and beverages, engineering, and others.
Nikolaos graduated from the Athens University Law School, worked as an assistant at the European Law Section of the Law School of the Democritus University and holds a PhD in European Economic Law of the Law School of Hamburg University, where he also worked as an assistant responsible for the European Documentation Center. Nikolaos served as legal adviser (Referent) at the Max-Planck-Institute for Foreign and Private International Law in Hamburg for seven years delivering legal advices to inquiring German courts.
He is the author of various contributions inter alia on aspects of Community Trademarks Law, Unfair Competition, Patent and Design Law and he has conducted seminars on trademarks case law in the frame of educational programs for Examiners of the Greek Trademarks Office.
Nikolaos is a member of numerous international associations focusing on IP law. He currently serves as a Council Member of ECTA and as member of the ECTA’s Harmonization Committee and Law Committee. He is also Secretary of the Hellenic Group of AIPPI. In the years 2005-2010 he worked as an active member of the Legislative Committee for the new Greek Trademarks Law 4072/2012, resp. Law 4155/2013 for the implementation of the Enforcement Directive 48/2004 in the Greek legal order. He has also served as a former member of the Board of Directors of the Greek Patent Office.
