Assem Alhawy

Assem Alhawy is the Founding Partner and Head of the Corporate Department at Shield Advocates – Al Hawy & Hassane, which he co-founded with Hassane El Sheref in 2020 in Giza, Egypt. He has more than 15 years of experience advising businesses on corporate and commercial legal matters, with a particular focus on labour and employment law.

Alhawy works with clients on a variety of corporate and commercial matters, including the drafting, review, and negotiation of distribution and agency agreements, licensing agreements, toll manufacturing and supply agreements, and other operational and strategic business contracts. His approach is focused on understanding the practical needs of each client and helping them address their legal and compliance requirements while pursuing their business objectives.

Alongside his corporate practice, Alhawy has been involved in developing Shield Advocates’ employment and labour law services. The firm provides advice across a range of areas, including corporate governance, intellectual property, banking and finance, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, commercial advisory, and dispute resolution. Through this work, Alhawy advises multinational, regional, and local companies, as well as investors and entrepreneurs, on a range of legal issues arising in their business activities.

Since establishing Shield Advocates, Alhawy has worked with his colleagues to develop the firm’s corporate and commercial practice and broaden the services it offers to clients in Egypt and abroad. His experience across corporate transactions, commercial contracts, and employment matters has allowed him to support clients dealing with both day-to-day legal needs and more complex business arrangements.
