Professional Biography
ANASTASIA AKUOKO received her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in law from the University of Buckingham, U.K., in 1998 and 1999, respectively.
From 1999 to 2002, she worked as a paralegal at the law firm of Awoonor Law Consultancy (ALC) and took the Ghana Stock Exchange courses while attending the Ghana School of Law. She was subsequently called to the Ghana Bar in 2001 and joined Minkah-Premo & Co. at the beginning of 2002 after completing her pupillage at ALC. She became a partner in 2007. Since then, she has advised the firm’s clients in local and foreign transactions with a combined value exceeding $2.0 billion.
Her areas of specialisation are Corporate Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, Securities Law, and Maritime Law. She also sits on the boards of several companies as a director and/or company secretary.

History of the Firm
Minkah-Premo, Osei-Bonsu, Bruce-Cathline & Partners (MPOBB) comprises lawyers and staff from varied backgrounds, providing integrated legal services. The firm traces its roots to Minkah-Premo & Co. (MPAC), which was established in 1996 through the joint vision of Justice Kusi-Minkah Premo and Stephen Oppong J.A. With a vision to build a commonwealth for lawyers in private practice, it started operations in Kumasi and later expanded to Accra, with its office located in Adabraka, near Graphic Road. The Accra practice was led by Justice Kusi-Minkah Premo and Wallace Bruce-Cathline as Partners and was later joined by Isaac Emmil Osei-Bonsu.
The firm’s board, which was established as a limited liability entity, expanded to include Akenten Appiah Menkah (a lawyer, politician, and prominent industrialist), Professor Ofosu-Armaah (an eminent lawyer and academic) as Chairman, and James Victor Gbeho (a diplomat) as the first non-executive directors. Until the expansion, the firm was solely guided by its Honorary Partner, Ehunabobirim Prah Agyensaim VI, Paramount Chief of the Assin Owirenkyi Traditional Area (Assin Kushea), known in private life as Wellington E. Jonah.
The firm grew to include a Sunyani office, which was run by Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw Cheremeh. In May 2002, the firm relocated to its current location in Labone. Following several expansions, the Accra branch now operates from a purpose-built six-floor office building on the Labone site, known as Bruce Towers.
As a commonwealth for lawyers, the firm expanded to include more equity partners: Premo, Bruce-Cathline, Oppong, Ameyaw, Osei-Bonsu, Akuoko, Gyau, Akwesi, Owusu Ansah, and Adu Boahen. Upon his elevation to the bench, Oppong J.A. exited the firm, as did Hon. Cheremeh to pursue political office. Cheremeh’s departure eventually led to the closure of the Sunyani branch.
With lawyers in Accra and Kumasi specialising in various branches of law, the firm prides itself as a conservative yet dynamic legal services provider.
