Amne Suedi Kagasheki

Amne is the Founder and Principal of Shikana Law Group. She is an advocate, who counsels foreign investors, international organisations, multinational companies as well as SMEs on legal issues pertaining to specific sectors in Africa. In particular, she counsels foreign investors as they develop and expand their activities across Africa.

Amne combines a strong experience in finance and corporate law, having worked in asset and fund management as well as private equity funds for a total of five years as a legal adviser for Capital Dynamics and subsequently Pictet & Cie in Switzerland. She advised on offshore investments, optimal company structures in accordance to the objectives of the company, wealth and estate management, fund formation and structured products, fiscal law, financial and securities regulations of major financial markets and general legal considerations with regards to financing and financial products and cross-border company law matters.

She has acted as adviser to the East African Community (the “EAC”) and the World Trade Organisation (the “WTO”) and possesses a strong understanding of regional integration matters, particularly the economic law of regional integration, international trade as well as bilateral and multilateral negotiations.

Amne is experienced in conducting high-level mediation with ministries and government agencies on behalf of her clients.  Amne read her Bachelor degree and Master degree in Law at the University of Geneva, where she graduated with honours. She read her L.L.M. in International Trade and Financial law at University College London. She speaks English, French, Kiswahili and Spanish.

Jorge Hachiya Saeki

Jorge Hachiya Saeki received his JD degree from the Law School of the University of São Paulo (USP), in 1982 and was admitted to the Brazilian Bar in 1983. His background includes working in legal departments of Japanese companies in Tokyo and tax counselling in international audit company in São Paulo, before joining Saeki Advogados in 1988, where he presently is the managing partner, responsible for the international issues, foreign investments, corporate and tax law areas. Fluent in Portuguese, English and Japanese, he is the General Counsel of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brazil and legal representative of dozens of foreign companies in Brazil.

Pedro Gamundi

Pedro Gamundi focuses on international commercial and financial transactions. He assists multinational clients in the structuring and placement of foreign direct investments in different sectors of the Dominican Republic’s economy and advises them while negotiating, executing and securing international financial transactions including institutional private lending, asset-based lending, project financing, bond issuances and securitizations. Pedro also advises on taxation, monetary, banking, corporate, aviation, telecommunications, energy, mining and environmental matters and assists corporate clients in cross-border reorganization and insolvency matters, and while addressing complex labor situations.

Having taught economic law and foreign investment law for a number of years at Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in Santo Domingo, Pedro acts as coordinator of the master program in business law and international litigation jointly offered by PUCMM and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid, Spain. From 1991 to 1992 he worked as a consultant to the Harvard Institute for International Development and the United Nations Development Program in the tax reform project of the Dominican Republic.

Pedro is co-author of “Dominican Republic Eases Rules for Foreigners” for The National Law Journal and “Tax and Investment in the Dominican Republic” in the Bulletin for International Fiscal Documentation. He is also a co-author of “Legal Regime of Bankruptcy in the Dominican Republic,” a paper presented at a meeting of the American Bankruptcy Institute.

Pedro is listed in Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers, Chambers Latin America, IFLR1000 2009 and noted in LatinLawyer 250 2012 for his work in the Dominican Republic and region-wide.

From 2000 to 2012, Pedro served as a member and then as president of the Board of Directors of Fundación Dominicana de Desarrollo (FDD), a not-for-profit organization recognized as a regional pioneer in adopting micro-financing as a tool for social promotion and economic development. He is also a member of Fundación Institucionalidad y Justicia (FINJUS) and the Dominican Bar Association.

Andreas Ueltzhöffer

Attorney with over 20 years of advising foreign investors in the Czech Republic

Andreas Ueltzhöffer is a founding partner of UEPA. He is a member of the Czech Bar as well as of the German Bar and has been practicing as an attorney in the Czech Republic since 1994. He worked many years of his professional career as partner in international law firms in Prague, such as CMS Cameron McKenna. He advised on many large and medium sized M&A and real estate transactions, advising both foreign investors on their investment projects in the Czech Republic, and Czech investors on investments projects abroad. Besides transactional work, Andreas also puts a strong focus on litigation and alternative dispute resolution and has been involved in a number of high-value proceedings, both as party representative and as arbitrator. Andreas lectures at the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE), being as well a member of the scientific advisory board of its Faculty of Business Administration. Andreas is also the long-time Attorney-of-trust of the Swiss Embassy in Prague.
