Kenneth C. Suria is Estrella, LLC’s Director of Federal Practice. He joined Estrella, LLC in March 2000, and focuses his trial practice on commercial litigation, trademark protection, bankruptcy, petroleum franchising and personal injury. He is admitted to practice in all the state and federal courts of Puerto Rico and New York, as well as the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the First and Second Circuits.
Mr. Suria graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama in 1979. He received his law degree from New York Law School in 1983. He is a member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy where he became the first NITA Certified Faculty Member in Puerto Rico. This led to his being named the first Puerto Rico Program Director for NITA’s renowned Trial Skills Program. Mr. Suria is also an active member of the Federal Bar Association-Puerto Rico.
In 1985, he commenced his legal career with Hartford Fire & Indemnity Insurance Company representing the carrier’s assureds in general liability and automobile insurance claims in cases from their inception through trial. Two years later he became staff counsel for CIGNA Property & Casualty Company where he represented the company’s assureds in a vast array of areas of civil litigation, including premises liability, automobile accidents, general liability, insurance law, products liability, copyrights, appeals and federal litigation.
His experience led him to try numerous cases from inception through verdict in New York and in Puerto Rico involving general liability cases that include premises liability, automobile accidents, insurance law, products liability, intellectual property, P.M.P.A. and federal litigation. This led to being recognized as one of the Global Law Experts in the area of Civil Litigation for Puerto Rico.
Mr. Suria has authored several articles that have been published in NITA’s International Blog, the U.S. Virgin Islands Bar Association Newsletter and in our Firm’s Newsletter – Legal Tidbits, among others.
