Professional Biography:

Allen Candanedo is an Associate of Morgan & Morgan since 2009.

Before joining the firm, Mr. Candanedo was in charge for 10 years of the IP Department of a local law firm. From his position, he coordinated and managed the relation with international correspondents regarding trademark registration, protection and international litigation in North, Central and South America. Likewise, he gained experience in customer service and investor-relation fields in Panama and the Colon Free Zone.

In the Intellectual Property field, his practice includes all matters related to Intellectual Property Law, incorporating registration and protection of trademarks, as well as litigation related to opposition claims against trademark registrations, cancellation actions, and criminal actions against infringements of all sorts of Intellectual Property Rights.

Mr. Candanedo obtained an LL.B., from the Universidad Católica Santa María La Antigua, Law School, in Panama. Completed the program of Orientation in the U.S. Legal System at the International Law Institute at the George Washington University Law School, in Washington, USA. Completed the IP Program at the International Law Institute at Georgetown University in Washington D.C., USA. Obtained a Degree in Negotiations, Treaties and International Trade, ULACEX, Panama, in cooperation with Universidad de Santiago de Chile.

He is a member of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).

Trademark Law Practice:

Morgan & Morgan offers expertise in a full range of Intellectual Property areas assisting clients in the application and registration of trademarks, service marks, slogans, trade names, inventions, utility models, industrial designs and plant varieties under Industrial Property Law, and advising clients how to protect their creations such as music, audiovisual works, phonographic productions, books, computer software and also representing clients in negotiations which involve the assignment or licensing of their copyright, for both a national and international protection, under Copyright Law.

The Intellectual Property Department of Morgan & Morgan also assists in the protection of industrial property assets by performing registration of rights with the Intellectual Property Department of the National Customs Authority and with the Intellectual Property Department of the Colon Free Trade Zone Administration, to achieve maximum cross-border protection and to fight unauthorized use of intellectual property rights and other forms of infringements.

Our attorneys also advise clients in Litigation matters related to Intellectual Property (Opposition claims against trademark applications, Nullity and Cancellation claims and Copyright Infringement) and criminal actions related to all sorts of Intellectual Property crimes.

The Morgan & Morgan Intellectual Property Department is highly effective of assisting clients in obtaining Sanitary Registrations before the Health Ministry and the Panama Authority for Medical and Food products, respectively.
